Our grass-fed beef is sourced from Gonsoulin Land & Cattle. 

 

The Gonsoulin Family has been raising cattle in south central Louisiana since 1770. They produce quality grass-fed beef using no antibiotics or growth hormones, producing beef as Mother Nature has intended and conserving our natural resources in the process.  

 

In 1770, Jean Francios de Beaumelle Gonsoulin, a land surveyor from France, registered the F2 brand in St Martin Parish, Louisiana of that same year.  Along with raising cattle, the Gonsoulin family includes a long list of butchers and meat market operators.  Gonsoulin Land and Cattle, LLC initially began its grass-fed business in 2006.

 

The ranch is committed to the environmental programs recommended by the USDA-NRCS. It has been awarded the 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 Conservation Cooperator Award for outstanding accomplishments in the conservation of soil, water and related natural resources from the USDA-NRCS. Gonoulin Famrs is very proud and watchful of conservation practices. They work the cattle on horseback which results in a low stress, low pressure environment. It may take a little more time to do things, but the family finds that the cattle prefer the decreased noise levels and gentle handling.

 

GLC has recently joined the American Grassfed Association, producer #0224. This organization conducts an on-site inspection of the ranch and allows the use of its labels on the products to be sold. This assures the consumer that the meat has met the grass-fed guidelines and has in place an inspection process from a third party. GLC is also a member of the National and Louisiana Cattleman's Association and has proudly been accepted into the Louisiana Branded Beef Program which has a strict set of guidelines to make sure the consumer is eating Louisiana grown beef. GLC has just received a license to use the "Certified Louisiana Product" label from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry.
